Hi, I'm Karina. I opened Universal Taxes & More in 2011, and for more than fifteen years I've prepared taxes and notarized Florida documents for families across Southwest Florida. What I've learned in that time is that almost nobody arrives with a simple question. There's usually a move behind it, or a new baby, or a business someone is nervous to start, or an envelope from the IRS that's been sitting unopened on the kitchen counter for a week. So I listen to the whole story before I touch a single form.
Taxes are the heart of what I do, but the work I'm quietly proudest of is walking people through divorces and family paperwork. Those clients come to me at the worst moment of their year, already braced to be charged for every phone call. I price that work so nobody has to choose between doing it properly and being able to afford it. Fifteen years in, I still know most of the people who walk through our door by name.
Steven
Hi, I'm Steven. I studied accounting, finance and management information systems, then went back for a master's in big data at Rutgers — because the questions I kept running into weren't really accounting questions. They were questions about what the numbers were actually trying to tell us. I spent the next stretch of my career as a financial analyst for Fortune 500 companies across New York and the tri-state area, building the budgets, forecasts and models those companies use to decide things.
Then I brought that work here, which was always the point. A small business in Bonita Springs deserves the same quality of analysis a Fortune 500 gets — it just can't be priced the same way. So I sit down with owners and turn their numbers into plain sentences: whether you can afford to hire someone, whether last month was genuinely good or just busy, what next quarter looks like if nothing changes. Big-firm training, without big-firm pricing.

Milena
Hi, I'm Milena. I spent years in client relations in New York City, where the pace forgives nothing and people remember exactly one thing about you: whether you did what you said you would do. I brought that standard with me. I try to understand what you actually need in the first conversation, explain the process in language that doesn't need a second opinion, and follow up before you have to wonder.
I speak English, Spanish and Portuguese, and I've spent a good part of my life travelling — enough of it to know exactly what it feels like to sit across from someone official and not be certain you understood the question. That feeling is the one I try to make impossible here. I also teach English as a second language, which taught me to slow down, ask better questions, and never let anyone feel embarrassed for asking something twice.
Raia
Hi! I'm Raia, Head of Adorable Affairs. I'm four, which makes me the youngest member of this team and, in my professional opinion, the most essential. My job is the welcome. I greet everyone at the door, I enforce the snack schedule, and I hand out hugs to anybody who looks like they've had a long day with their paperwork.
Grown-ups keep telling my parents I'm smart for my age. I think I'm smart for any age, and I would like that noted in the record. I'm still in training — but one day I'll be running this place.
